About MaedX

MaedX is an education platform for building energy modelling, simulation and low-carbon design — founded on the belief that the hard part was never the software.

Most people who learn building simulation learn an interface. They come away able to press the buttons and produce a number — and then discover that the number doesn't help anyone decide anything.

The part that matters sits either side of the software: knowing which question the model is meant to answer, choosing assumptions you can defend, and translating the output into a design decision someone will actually act on. That's what MaedX teaches.

Founded by Maedeh Mohit

I work as a building energy specialist on international projects — energy modelling, envelope and thermal-bridging studies, whole-life carbon, and compliance modelling to ASHRAE and LEED. MaedX is where that work becomes teaching.

I hold an MSc in Building Physics and low-energy architecture, studied Sustainable Building Design at TU Delft, and am a LEED Green Associate. I've trained trainers for UNDP Asia-Pacific and taught energy modelling to students across the world. Consulting work is delivered through HPDLab, which I co-founded.

How I teach

  1. Workflow before tools

Software changes every few years. The sequence of questions doesn't. Learn the sequence and the tool becomes a detail.

  2. Assumptions in the open

Most modelling disagreements are assumption disagreements. I teach people to state theirs and defend them.

  3. Results that end in a decision

A result that doesn't change what gets built is a result that wasn't worth producing.

Areas of work

Energy modelling

Whole-building simulation, load calculations and scenario comparison.

Whole-life carbon

Embodied and operational carbon, LCA scope and material comparison.

Envelope & thermography

Thermal bridging, air leakage and insulation performance in service.

Climate-responsive design

Climate analysis, orientation, shading and passive strategy.

Compliance & certification

ASHRAE 90.1 and 90.4 modelling, LEED documentation, Passive House support.
